The Crime and Disorder Act 1998 (External link) placed a statutory obligation on the District Council, County Council and Police to work together in partnership to tackle crime and disorder and anti-social behaviour problems within their area.
The Act was amended in 2004, and now the Police Authority, the Primary Care Trust and the Fire Service are also statutory partners.
Kennet’s Community Safety Partnership includes :

the Probation Service, Town and Parish Councils, Local Strategic Partnerships, and registered social landlords which are all organsiations that have a legal duty to co-operate with the above in reducing crime and disorder
