The Corporate Finance department provides a comprehensive service covering all aspects of finance relevant to a Shire District Council. We work in partnership with all the departments of the Council to provide them with cohesive financial support. The department carries out the following functions:
All Accountancy Functions including comprehensive budget preparation & control and completion of the Final Accounts process through to publication of the Council’s Statement of Accounts;
Preparation of the Medium Term Financial Strategy;
Financial support and advice to Managers, Directors and Members;
A full Internal Audit Service;
Treasury Management including cashflow and investments;
VAT advice and other general taxation advice;
Accounts Payable;
Accounts Receivable
Payment of all wages, salaries and Member’s Allowances;
Maintaining the Council’s insurance policies and claims handling;
Risk Management.
In addition, members of the department represent the Council on a variety of other professional networks:
