Kennet District Council is continually striving to improve its performance in the provision of public services, and in our continuing development as an organisation. It is therefore essential to know how we are performing in every aspect of our work, in order to measure areas of improvement and weakness.
We are required by law to report a number of performance measurements to indicate the performance of services, which can be compared against all other councils in the country . In addition, we collect local performance indicators that reflect the circumstances in Kennet. Performance targets are set to encourage continuous improvement. Performance management also includes making plans for services and reporting how they have achieved against their targets, and staff appraisals. Accurate collection of performance information also enables us to plan for the future, and is an essential part of the Best Value process.
Performance management is one of the most important parts of the Policy Support section’s work.
