Eligible Council Tax is calculated using the actual band of the property, less any discount you may be entitled to, less any deduction for any adult you may have living with you.
As well as a Council Tax Benefit, there is also the possibility of being paid a Second Adult rebate if you do not have a partner, or the partner is 'not counted' for Council Tax purposes. In such a case, where there are other adults over 18 living with you and they are in receipt of Income Support, Job Seekers Allowance or Pension Credit or their combined gross income is less than £163 per week from April 2007 and none of these people pay you rent, then a Second Adult Rebate may be paid. This is up to 25% of your Council Tax bill.
