Instructions for completing a Council Tax Direct Debit mandate
a. Print a copy of the mandate and complete the following boxes
Full postal address of your bank/building society – this information can be found on your cheque book or bank statement.
Reference
- this number can be found in the top right hand corner of your bill entitled
account reference. When completing the reference number please ignore the first 2 (this
number is for accounting purposes only).
It is most important that this
number is correct
so if in doubt please contact the Council Tax department.
Names(s) of account holder(s) - this information can be found on your cheque book or bank statement.
Branch sort code - this information can be found in the top right hand corner of your chequebook
Bank/building society account number - this information can be found on your cheque book or bank statement.
For official use only – please indicate if you wish to pay monthly, halfyearly or annually, on 1st, 15th or 28th of the month. If this box is not completed you will automatically be offered monthly instalments. Providing your telephone number is not a legal requirement, but it will enable us to contact you if we have any queries.
b. Sign and date the mandate.
c. Detach the Direct Debit Guarantee, this gives details of your rights if a problem occurs with your direct debit payments.
d. Return the mandate to Kennet District Council.
Once your mandate has been received a bill will be issued notifying you of your payments and the date your payments will be deducted. (At least 14 days notice will be given before the first payment is deducted).
