What do Environmental Health & Protection Services deal with ?

Answer

The Section covers a diverse range of functions, all working towards the themes of public health and protection and sustainability within Kennet :

  • Food Safety enforcement (e.g. inspections, food complaints, sampling)

  • Health & Safety enforcement (e.g. inspections, accidents)

  • Infectious disease and food poisoning

  • Health promotion and food hygiene training

  • Private sector housing enforcement (e.g. unfitness, overcrowding, landlords)

  • Housing improvement grants and Disabled Facilities grants

  • Houses in Multiple Occupation (HIMO's) enforcement

  • Pollution and noise complaints

  • Private water supplies and drainage

  • Environmental pollution (e.g. contaminated land and air quality)

  • Pest control

  • Animal welfare (including licensing of animal establishments)

  • Licensing (public entertainment, liquor, taxis etc)

  • Sustainable Development and Local Agenda 21

  • Community Health

  • Community Safety including Anti-Social Behaviour Orders

What are the office hours ?

Answer

Our office is open :

Monday to Thursday : 8:30am - 5:30pm

Friday : 8:30am - 5:00pm

We do not normally operate a complaints service outside of these hours, however we do have officers 'on call'. If you feel your call is an emergency then please telephone the main switchboard on (01380) 724911 and you will be put through to our Contact Centre who will deal with your call appropriately.
