The Local Authority's Role

The Council oversees a Contaminated Land Strategy for the investigation of potentially contaminated land across the district. Any land meeting the strict criteria of the definition ‘Contaminated Land’ is required to be registered with the authority.

In accordance with the Strategy and with government guidance, we are required to keep a register of all sites that meet the formal definition of Contaminated Land.

Contaminated Land Searches

Our Environmental Protection Officer carries out all Contaminated Land searches. There is a charge for this service :

  • Contaminated Land Search £94.50

  • Contaminated Land Search (if invoiced) £102.50
