Legal Provisions

The Food Premises (Registration) Regulations 1991, made under the Food Safety Act 1990, require that all food premises (with certain exceptions) must be registered. Registration is with the Local Authority within whose district they are situated.

The Regulations require that certain items of information must be included in a public register, which must be available for inspection at all reasonable times. In giving or sending copies of entries, the Local Authority may make a charge.
