Sandbags

The Council MAY supply sandbags for properties affected by flooding.

Please note: The Council has NO duty to provide sandbags
  • The supply of bags and sand is very limited.

  • The distribution of sandbags can be very slow especially in adverse weather conditions.

  • Protection for individual properties is the responsibility of the householder.

  • Sandbags can be made from any strong, water resistant material e.g. carrier bags and filled with sand or soil.

  • Do not attempt to store filled/used bags. They will rot within 12 months. Store sand and bags separately until needed.

  • If your property is prone to flooding then get prepared well in advance. Do not wait for the water level to start rising.
