With three 25 metre swimming pools on offer within Kennet, there’s no excuse for not splashing around! Swimming is an extremely versatile and fun way to keep fit. A session in the pool provides a full body workout, without placing excessive strain on your joints, which makes it an ideal sport for everyone!

Even if you’re extremely fit, sessions in the pool will noticeably improve your lung capacity, muscle tone and suppleness. Swimming also burns off more calories than cycling or walking per 5 minutes, so is also a great way to stay in shape! It’s never too early to start getting your youngsters used to water and at Marlborough, Devizes and Tidworth Leisure centres you will find a range swimming classes for your water baby!

Kennet Swim School

All swim school sessions offer consistent, high-quality swimming teaching. The swim school will follow the New ASA National Plan from September 2008 for swimming allowing progressive programming through the levels for your child.

We are currently embarking on a change within our swimming lesson programme.  Our swimming lessons are based upon a framework called the National Plan for Teaching Swimming (NPTS) produced by the asa, National Governing Body for Swimming.  This is a national syllabus for delivering aquatics and provides stages for children to progress and become confident, competent and safe in water.

The new programme will supercede the existing programme, some changes over the coming term and therefore you may notice some changes over the coming term to classes and skills being taught.  You may notice an emphasis on fun and games within your child's swimming lesson;the use of games and fun activities to deliver learning outcomes is proven to be the most effective way for children to learn and all activities will have a purpose behind them.

We hope that you can bear with us during this transition period.  We also run intensive holiday swimming lessons with a range of levels. (Please ask at reception for available levels)

One to one personal swimming lessons (available during school terms)

A range of Lifesaving Courses which includes Rookie, a lifesaving lesson which teaches your children the basics of first aid.

We also run the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification course for people aged 16+. Please ask at reception for more information about this course.
