Buildings often fall into disuse or disrepair and are demolished to either make way for new development or to remove a danger or eyesore
If you intend to demolish a building (over 50m3) you must notify us in writing (required by section 80 of the Building Act 1984) giving at least six weeks notice. Follow this link to the 'Notice of Demolition' (pdf, 38 KB) form. This form cannot be completed on-line yet, so please print a copy in order to complete. You will have to copy the notice to the public utility companies and adjoining owners.
Conditions may be imposed upon you specifying how the demolition should be undertaken. The public utility companies may have additional requirements. If it is a dwelling (house or flat) you must also notify the council’s Development Control section
