Potential Development Sites Consultation
Last revised: 5 November 2008
Kennet is progressing work on the local development framework (LDF). The local development scheme, approved in June 2006, includes local consultation to raise awareness about potential development sites as part of background work on the core strategy and proposals map. The local development scheme does not include a specific site allocations document because of the limited amount of development anticipated in Kennet but there may be a need to identify specific sites for development emerging as part of the issues and options consultation on the core strategy.
PPS12 (Local Development Frameworks) states that where land is allocated for development the identification of sites should be ‘founded on a robust and credible assessment of the suitability, availability and accessibility of land for particular uses or mixed uses’ (para 2.15). Kennet believes such an assessment of sites should begin at the earliest opportunity and involve developers, landowners and the community as recommended in the companion guide to PPS12 ‘Creating Local Development Frameworks’.
If you know of a potential site for development that you wish to be considered for inclusion within the LDF, we would like to hear from you now.
It is preferable that all potential development sites are submitted online. The following link takes you to our online potential development site submission form. You will need to have a digital / scanned image of your potential development site available for upload which clearly identifies the site preferably at a scale of 1:2500.

Online submission may not be convenient for everyone therefore copies of the guidance notes and corresponding submission forms are available for download below. Please ensure you have made copies of these forms if you have multiple sites to submit.
Guidance Notes for completing both forms - (G1) (pdf, 59 KB)
Site Details form - (S1) (pdf, 106 KB)
Sustainability Appraisal form - (S2) (pdf, 118 KB)
This will not be the only opportunity to register sites for consideration but it will ensure that you are involved in the new process from the outset and kept informed of all aspects of the LDF. You should note that once a preferred option development plan document is submitted to the Secretary of State for consideration it is no longer possible to object to the plan on the grounds that a particular site was not considered. Instead objections need to relate to various tests of ‘soundness’.
