TAXIS

are an important part of an integrated transport system providing transport from a railway station to a final destination or enabling people to do their shopping. They provide valuable links for many people, especially those that do not have regular access to a car.

All taxis, whether private hire or hackney carriage have to be licensed. To obtain a licence you will need to contact the Licensing department on 01380 724911 or follow this link for more information on Licensing

The difference between a hackney carriage licence and a private hire licence is the collection. Private hire has to be booked in advance; a hackney carriage can stand at a rank or be hailed to ride. Taxi ranks exist around Kennet. In Marlborough the taxi ranks for hackney carriages are outside the Castle and Ball Hotel and the Hight Street.  In Devizes they are situated at the entrance to Tesco's car park, outside Atwell Martin Estate Agents, Market Place, Devizes and outside Barclays Bank. There are currently no ranks in Tidworth and Pewsey.

Standard fares are applicable with a hackney carriage and these can be found by following this link - Table of Fares . Listed are also the companies that have wheelchair accessible vehicles.
