Q.  -  Who is responsible for flood defence in my area?


A.  -  Refer to Kennet District Council on 01380 724911 or email kennet@kennet.gov.uk who will advise.

Q.  -  Can you tell me if the house I am interested in purchasing is within a flood area?


A.  -  You can follow this link to visit the Environment Agency (External link) website, or ring Kennet Contact Centre on 01380 734665 or email kennet@kennet.gov.uk who will consult flooding records.

Q.  -  Who is responsible for the river adjacent to my property?


A.  -  Refer to Kennet District Council on 01380 724911 or email kennet@kennet.gov.uk who will establish from records if the water course is main rivers or privately owned.

Q.  -  Do you supply sandbags?


A.  -  The Council supply sandbags in an emergency to prevent house flooding, ring Kennet Contact Centre on 01380 724911 or email kennet@kennet.gov.uk for assistance.

Q.  -  The road gulley in front of my house is blocked, who is responsible?


A.  -  If on the public highway it is the responsibility of WCC, ring Clarence on 0800 23 23 23 or email Wiltshire@wiltshire.gov.uk . If on a private road it is the landowner’s responsibility

Q.  -  Can the Council unblock my drain?


A.  -  If on private land the Council will charge the householder, if the blockage is in the public drain the appropriate Water company is responsible, ring Kennet District Council on 01380 724911 or email kennet@kennet.gov.uk for advice.
