Kennet District Council endeavors to keep the kerbs and street clear of litter - are there any areas where we are failing to do this ?

The Council, under the Environmental Protection Act 1990, Code of Practice on Litter and Refuse, has a "duty to ensure that all land in its direct control which is open to the air and to which the public has access, is kept clear of litter and refuse, so far as is practicable".

The Council endeavour to mechanical sweeping of kerbed roads in villages and residential areas once every three months. Town centres are swept daily. Non-kerbed rural roads are swept on an "as and when necessary" basis rather than on a schedule. If between scheduled cleaning, land for which the Council is responsible falls below an acceptable cleanliness standard, additional cleaning will be undertaken.

If there is an area that you are concerned about because of the presence of litter and refuse please let us know
