Late last year the Pewsey Community Planning Partnership (CPP) received £20,000 Market and Coastal Towns (MCTi) funding from the Wiltshire Market Towns Partnership.

A strategic proposal was prepared to ensure sustainability and to build on the vision and many of the aims and objectives in the Pewsey Area Community Plan. The proposal was to consider land uses that could be innovatively combined and considered for a potential central site which is being marketed for development. The proposal recognised the need to carry out specific visioning, an audit of the existing situation, and feasibility studies for several of the potential land uses and the need for professional regeneration expertise in preparing and implementing a strategic action plan.

An organisation called ContinYou was commissioned to work with a local steering group made up of the CPP, Kennet District Council, Pewsey Parish Council, and the Pewsey Area Community Trust (PACT).to develop some recommendations for action by consulting with local people from Pewsey and the surrounding villages, on what they would like to see happen.

The work of ContinYou is now complete and the final report is now available. PACT will now be working with key stakeholders including those named above to develop an action plan building upon the recommendations within the report.

Another activity carried out under this programme was a feasibility study into Pewsey Community Area Community Resource Facilities. This was undertaken by Voluntary Action Kennet, who sent out questionnaires to community groups and organisations within the area. The final report is now available.

The Pewsey & District Feast & Carnival has also received support for professional help in preparing a robust funding application for a Carnival and Community Storage Building. Work is still underway.

Tourism is seen as a potential activity to bring people into the area. A baseline audit on tourism within the Pewsey Community Area is currently being undertaken.
