Methods of Paying

Direct DebitBY DIRECT DEBIT

Please contact the Council Tax Section as soon as possible if you wish to change to this method of payment. Alternatively you could follow this link to Business Rates Direct Debit page and download your own mandate (External link).  Having completed the form, return it to the Council. You have a choice of payments dates, 1st, 15th or 28th.
If this bill specifies that your payments will be collected by Direct Debit no further action is necessary.

Credit CardsBY TELEPHONE


You may make payment using the Council’s automated payment line 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, by debit or credit card, by telephoning 01380 739478. You will need to quote your Account Reference number and confirm the amount you are paying together with your card details.

Cheque BookBY CHEQUE


Cheques may be posted to Kennet District Council, Financial Services Group, Browfort, Bath Road, DEVIZES, Wiltshire, SN10 2AT. Cheques should be made payable to Kennet District Council. Please provide you name, Account Reference number and the address to which the payment relates on the reverse of the cheque. If a receipt is required please provide a request together with your payment. Cash should not be sent through the post unless in a registered envelope.

Post Office SignAT A POST OFFICE

You may pay, free of charge at any post office using your payment card. You should allow seven days for your payment to reach the Council by the instalment due date. Cheque payments should be made payable to ‘Post Office Ltd’ and presented with your payment card. Please refer to your bill to confirm the amount of each payment.

Please note a payment card will not automatically be sent to you. If you wish to pay by this method please contact the Council who will arrange delivery.

ComputerVIA The COUNCIL’S WEBSITE

You may use your credit or debit card to make payment via the Internet. Please allow five days for your payment to reach the Council. By contacting us through our website www.kennet.gov.uk (External link) and by selecting ‘Online Services’, from the top menu, you can make secure and speedy payments over the net.

TelephonePAYMENT BY STANDING ORDER, INTERNET OR TELEPHONE BANKING

In order for you to arrange payment by standing order, internet or telephone banking, you will be required to supply the following details:

  1. Kennet District Council’s Bankers, the HSBC Bank at 45 Market Place, Devizes, Wiltshire, SN10 IHZ

  2. The Sort Code is 40-19-16

  3. The Account Number is 81193198

  4. You must also quote your Account Reference number in addition to the above details.

Please note that payments must arrive by the dates specified on your bill. Any delay in providing payment may result in the issue of a reminder notice. The Council is only obliged to issue two such notices within the same financial year and upon issue of a third notice the Council will demand full payment and end your ability to pay the remaining charge by instalments.

THE COUNCIL WILL NOT ACCEPT POST DATED CHEQUES UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
