Each year Kennet’s Environmental Health Officers undertake hundreds of food hygiene inspections. This new Scheme is designed to publicise the results of those inspections and to award food businesses a Star Rating ranging from zero (poor) to five (excellent).
The principal reason for introducing
the Scheme is to promote better food hygiene. By making the hygiene standards of businesses visible
good establishments receive recognition and are rewarded with the ability to advertise the fact. On
the other hand poor performers are brought to the attention of the public with the inevitable threat
to their commercial reputation.
By joining with other local authorities
in Wiltshire in offering this information to the public Kennet will ensure consistency of scoring across
the County.
The scheme will be active from the 1st September and scores will be available
from this page shortly after each inspection has taken place.
The new law, requiring all workplaces, public premises, public transport and work vehicles in England to be smoke free, took effect from 1st July 2007.Follow to find out more
