The Kennet District Council “Food Hygiene Star Rating” Scheme is a new web based way for members of the public to view the hygiene standards of local food establishments. Most food businesses will eventually be awarded a star rating reflecting the findings of the inspecting Environmental Health Officers. The star ratings, which range from zero to five stars, correspond to similar schemes operating across Wiltshire.

Kennet has over 850 establishments on its register of food businesses. This Scheme links directly to the statutory risk assessment that is carried out during the routine inspections of these premises by Environmental Health staff.

Under the Freedom of Information Act the Council is required to allow access to Food hygiene inspection information. This Scheme is a proactive step to allow greater access to the information in an easy to understand format.
