Housing Association and Council Housing

Top

Kennet District Council does NOT have a stock of ‘Council’houses.

Sarsen Housing Association is now responsible for these properties along with a number of smaller Housing Associations.

Any problems with these properties should, in the first instance, be dealt with by the relevant Housing Association.

The Environmental Health department is NOT involved with the allocation of rented property - any queries should be passed to Homes@Kennet (External link) or the relevant Housing Association.

Complaints against a Housing Association

Kennet does not have any direct control over the Housing Associations working in the District.

In the first instance,  you should seek to resolve the matter by speaking to your Housing Association landlord.  All Housing Associations have a written complaint procedure.  If you still feel your complaint has not been satisfactorily dealt with, you can seek assistance from your local Citizen's Advice Bureau.  Additionally, you can contact the Independent Housing Ombudsman (IHO) at www.ihos.org.uk (External link)

In contacting the IHO, you will normally need to demonstrate that you have already been through your landlords' internal complaints procedure.
