Car Stereos
The Environmental Health Department has powers to deal with noise from car stereos subject to proving statutory nuisance. It is essential that we can identify the owner of the vehicle accurately in order for any action to be taken. To do this we need the details of the vehicle including its registration number, make, model and colour.

Street Noise
The department has no powers to deal with noise from the street caused by children play, late night revellers etc.
These are public order offences and can only be dealt with by the Police.

Traffic Noise
The Environmental Health department has no powers to deal with noise from passing traffic or vehicle manoeuvering on the public highway. These are matters dealt with by either Wilts Police or Wiltshire County Council.

Aircraft Noise
Noise from low flying aircraft is a matter either for the :
Ministry of Defence on 01980 620819 in the case of military aircraft
Civil Aviation Authority on 01275 475226 in the case of private or civil aircraft.
