Compulsory Purchase
Compulsory Purchase Orders (CPO's) powers can be used only as a last resort where all other action has failed in terms of bringing long-term empty homes back into use. The Housing Committee in 1998 agreed the principle of using CPO's where all alternative action had been unsuccessful and individual properties for which CPO's would be appropirate could be brought forward for consideration on a case by case basis.
