Options Consultation
The Council has reviewed existing strategies and plans, existing evidence and information gathered during the issues raising consultation in 2007 to develop an understanding of the function and relationships between the main settlements in Kennet. This knowledge has been used to consider the potential impact of a number of SPATIAL OPTIONS FOR FUTURE DEVELOPMENT for the local community to consider. Consultation was undertaken from 6th May 2008 to 16th June 2008. The consultation included a number of meetings and exhibitions across the District.

Devizes Town Centre Area Action Plan
- Statement of Community Engagement, February 2006
This is an interim Statement of Community Engagement which records all the consultation activities that took place between 24th October and 23rd December 2005 in relation to Gillespie’s proposals for Devizes Town Centre. The statement includes reports of each stakeholder workshop that took place as well as summaries of all individual comments made.
- Adopted Design Code (pdf, 1256 KB)
The design code has been prepared as part of the process for producing the Devizes Town Centre Area Action Plan (AAP) and is intended to form part of that local development document. However, the revised programme (Second revision to the Kennet Local Development Scheme, 2007) for preparing the AAP will delay adoption until after the adoption of the core strategy in 2009. Pressures for development on key sites in the town centre are likely to arise before that date. Consequently, the Council has adopted the design code for the purposes of development control during the interim period.
- Statement of Community Engagement on the Draft Design Code (pdf, 928 KB)
Publicity on the draft design code and consultation ran from 5th March to 16th April 2007. The statement of community engagement describes the methodology and process followed to involve the public and organisations in the preparation of the code. This document also summarises the feedback received and the changes made to the code as a result.
