What's it all about?

The blueprint for Kennet's future will be set out in a new planning document called the CORE STRATEGY.

The Council has undertaken extensive background work on the local economy, housing and sustainable development to identify the future challenges we all have to face. From this research a number of ISSUES PAPERS have been developed and are available to view below.

CONTEXT (pdf, 175 KB)
Background to the Core Strategy and Local Development Scheme.

Issues Paper 1: HOUSING (pdf, 609 KB)
Contains evidence about where housing has been built in the past and asks questions about where houses should go in the future.

Issues Paper 2: ENVIRONMENT (pdf, 538 KB)
Discusses a range of environmental issues planning can effect including biodiversity and renewable energy and questions how planning policies can affect climate change

Issues Paper 3: ECONOMY (pdf, 187 KB)
Summarises the findings of a report on Kennet's economy and proposes a future portfolio of employment sites.

Issues Paper 4: COMMUNITY (pdf, 297 KB)
Highlights the links between planning policy and community strategies and draws together local community aspirations already expressed in community plans.

The report below documents the activities that took place during March and April to involve the Kennet community in raising issues for the Kennet Core Strategy Development Plan Document. The Statement of Community Engagement describes the methodology and process following the involvement of the public and organisations and summarises the feedback received.
