Glossary
| Annual Monitoring Report (AMR) | A report on how the Council is performing in terms of the LDF. Includes review of The LDS timetable and monitoring of success of DPD policies. |
| Core Strategy (CS) | Sets out the long term vision for the district and the strategic policies and proposals to deliver the vision |
| Development Plan | Consists of the Regional Spatial Strategy and Development Plan Documents. The starting point for the determination of planning applications. |
| Development Plan Document (DPD) | A LDD that has development plan status and is subject to community involvement and Independent examination |
| Government Office for South West (GOSW) | The government’s regional office. First point of contact for submitting documents to the Secretary of State |
| Local Development Document (LDD) | Any document within the LDF. Collectively LDDs make up the spatial strategy for the district. |
| Local Development Framework (LDF) | The portfolio of Local Development Documents |
| Local Development Scheme (LDS) | A document that sets out what LDDs are to be produced and the timetable for their production. |
| Local Transport Plan | Prepared by WiltshireCounty Council. Sets out how to co-ordinate & improve local transport provision. |
| Planning Policy Guidance (PPG) | Sets out the Government’s national land use planning policies. Will be replaced by PPSs |
| Planning Policy Statement (PPS) | Sets out the Government’s national land use planning policies that will replace PPGs. |
| Proposals Map | A separate LDD which illustrates on an Ordnance Survey base map all the policies and proposals contained in the DPDs and ‘saved’ policies. |
| Regional Planning Guidance (RPG) | Produced by GOSW on behalf of the Secretary of State. Provides q regional spatial strategy within which the Local Plan & LTP should be prepared. To be replaced by RSS |
| Regional Spatial Strategy (RSS) | Produced by the South West Regional Assembly. Sets out the SoS policies within the region. |
| Saved Plan | Kennet’s Adopted Local Plan 2011 |
| Spatial Planning | Includes economic, social and environmental matters as well as the physical aspects of location and land use. |
| Sustainability Appraisals | These are required under national legislation for emerging policy and include consideration of social economic impacts as well as impacts on the environment. |
| Statement of Community Involvement | A document which sets out how the Council will consult and involve the public in the production of the LDF and major development control matters. |
| Strategic Environmental Assessment | An appraisal of The impacts of policies and proposals on economic, social and environmental issues. |
| Supplementary Planning Document | A LDD that does not have development plan status and does not have an independent inquiry. Must be linked to policies or proposals in a DPD. |
| Supplementary Planning Guidance | Additional advice issued by the Local Planning Authority expanding its statutory policies. To be replaced by SPD. |
| Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) | States the Local Planning Authority’s policies on consultations for Local Development Documents. |
