Yellow Woods Challenge

Thank you to everyone who took their old Yellow Pages to be recycled at their local school, we collected over 4000 directories, the equivalent of 5.7 tonnes! Well done to all the 27 competing schools.

What is it?

The Yellow Woods Challenge is the environmental schools competition run by Yellow Pages, working with the Woodland Trust and Kennet District Council. Schools that collect the most directories per pupil can win hundreds of pounds in cash prizes and for every pound awarded to schools, Yellow Pages will give a matching pound to the Woodland Trust, the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity.

The top prizes for the schools that recycle the highest number of old Yellow Pages directories per pupil are:

1st place:    Gold Oak Certificate + £300, Seeds for Trees kit Chirton Church of England School
2nd place:    Silver Birch Certificate + £200, Seeds for Trees kit Shalbourne Church of England Primary School
3rd place:    Bronze Beech Certificate + £100, Seeds for Trees kit Easton Royal Primary School

4th place:    Seeds for Trees kit, Certificate Oare Church of England School

5th place:    Seeds for Trees kit, Certificate Grafton Church of England School

6th place:    Seeds for Trees kit, Certificate Southbroom Junior School

Bonus Prize:    Best Artwork   £100 Great Bedwyn Church of England School for their design entitled 'Sunflowers'
